Provision In Banking Reform Bill Would Kill Angel Investing In Startups

WASHINGTON DC - A little known provision in the proposed reform bill would eliminate around two thirds of qualified angel investors and would keep businesses from using angel funds for four months, effectively killing investment in new startups.  External link to Portfolio Magazine.

 

New Law In 2012 Requires You To Send 1099’s To McDonald’s, Best Buy, Etc.

WASHINGTON DC - Starting in 2012, in an effort to record cash transactions by the IRS, a small tax code change buried deep in the health care bill means that you will have to send 1099’s to everyone that you spend $600 with in one year, from someone who sells you a used car to McDonald’s to parking garages or even gas stations.  External link to CNN Money.

 

Under Immigration Bill, Americans Would Be Fingerprinted, Forced To Get National ID Card

WASHINGTON DC - Under a new immigration bill proposal, all Americans would be forced to submit their fingerprints, show a national ID card and get approval from the IRS to get a job, and employers would have to buy a national ID card reader.  Link to The Hill.

 

Federal VAT Tax Would Add Taxes To Wholesale, Production Firms

Raleigh Soldier Participates In Spur Ride In Iraq

Specialist Kevin Marshall from Raleigh (above left) and Fritz Mageo (right) from Pago Pago, American Samoa, both with 382 Combat Sustainment Support Detachment, Rough Riders, perform room clearing procedures in the Baath Party Palace, Baghdad, as he and his team participates in the United States Forces-Iraq "Spur Ride."
