RALEIGH - Despite the tough economy, over 400 people attended the TechJournal DeckParty networking event at the upscale Solas Restaurant on Glenwood Avenue in downtown Raleigh.

The semi-annual event was held at the rooftop bar of the trendy restaurant on Thursday, May 27th as guests were treated to great food such as roasted asparagus, gourment chicken quesadillas, goat-cheese dip, and more.

Solas owner Niall Hanley was on hand to welcome the hundreds of CEO’s and other executives from the technology, biotech, pharmaceutical, and dot com industries from around the Research Triangle area.

This marks the first time the successful DeckParty event has been held in Raleigh in two years as it is usually held in Durham or the Research Triangle Park area.

“We actually had to turn people away on our online RSVP form because we had so many people who wanted to attend,” said Eric Gregg, co-founder of the TechJournal South publication, which covers the technology industries in the Southeast.

With its rooftop bar and upscale atmosphere in busy downtown Raleigh, the Solas Restaurant proved to be a great location for the event.

Special guests included Glenn Lang, former mayor of Cary and current CEO of Connexion Technologies and Chuck Hester, from the booming iContact email marketing company.

Sponsors included The Raleigh Telegram, NCSU Computer Training Unit, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione law firm, FeatureTel, Hughes Pittman Gupton, Dash Systems, Cherry Beckert & Holland, Accentuate Staffing, the Eclipse Group, and Hosted Solutions.

The next DeckParty event will be held in the fall of this year.  For more information, visit the DeckParty website at:
