Several Theaters Offer Oscar Parties In Raleigh

RALEIGH - If you’re looking for a fun place to watch the Academy Awards on Sunday night, March 7th, then you will have several choices as local theaters roll out the red carpet for Raleigh guests.

 

Local events include events hosted by celebrities, the awards on the silver screen, and even appearances by Star Wars Storm Troopers.

 

Oscar Night At Theatre In The Park

 

At the Raleigh Theatre In The Park on Pullen Road in Raleigh, the annual Oscar Night America ceremonies will be held as part of a black tie gala.  

 

Officially sanctioned by the the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the $50 tickets ($100 for VIP tickets) include food provided by the Angus Barn, a silent auction, and local stars and celebrities including actor Ira David Wood and Larry Stogner of ABC11.

Galaxy Cinemas In Cary

 

Locally owned Galaxy Cinemas will be hosting a free Oscar party on Sunday, March 7th as it broadcasts the ceremonies on the silver screen.

 

Doors open at 7pm, and the awards presentations begin at 8pm. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening, and attendees can enter a “Pick the Oscars” contest to predict the winners of film awards and earn the chance to win movie tickets and a Galaxy Cinema membership.

 

Tickets to the event are free, but seating is limited and advance ticketing is recommended.  

 

Galaxy Cinemas is on Maynard Road across from the Cary Towne Center Mall and is one of North Carolina’s largest art-house theaters.  

 

In 2008, Galaxy was picked by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as one of just 14 theaters in the United States to be a screening site for international films qualifying for the Academy Awards.

Raleighwood Cinemas 10th Event

 

Raleighwood Cinema Grill will hold it’s10th

annual Academy Awards gala on Sunday night, with plenty of free and fun events.

 

Doors will open at 7 pm and admission is free at the theater, which is located at 6609 Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh.

 

The annual Movie Star /Character look-alike search continues for those bearing a striking resemblance to a famous movie star or character, past or present.

 

Email your photo with the name of your “twin”, along with contact information, by February 25th to: specialevents@raleighwoodmovies.com

 

Winners will receive VIP treatment at the gala.

 

Not only will there be movie star look alikes, but also special appearances of the Star Wars Costume Group, Carolina Garrison of

the 501st Legion including Darth Vader, R2D2, Princess Leia, Storm Troopers, Imperial Guards and some Harry Potter characters!

 

A wine tasting in lobby will feature wines from the vineyards of Oscar-winning Director, Francis Ford Coppola.

 

There will also be contests throughout the

night, including the audience favorite Star Look-Alike, movie trivia, and Pick the Oscar Winners in the top 6 Academy Awards categories.

 

Prizes include DVD box sets, movie memorabilia, gift baskets and certificates from local area restaurants and businesses.

 

Raleighwood’s regular menu will be available, serving casual foods, beer wine and champagne.

 

A portion of proceeds will go to Self Awareness Outreach, a local children’s charity.
